- Worksite Location: Detroit Lakes, MN
What you'll do as a Payroll Accountant: - Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees, including data entry, verification, and distribution of paychecks or electronic transfers
- Calculate and process employee wages, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including filing payroll tax returns and remitting payments
- Reconcile payroll transactions and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of employee information, earnings, deductions, and benefits
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including tax withholdings, deductions, and pay discrepancies
- Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure alignment between payroll and personnel records
- Generate payroll reports and analyses as needed for management and regulatory purposes
- Stay informed about changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, and implement necessary updates to processes and procedures
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution
What you'll bring to the Payroll Accountant role: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant or similar role, with a strong understanding of payroll principles and practices
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential information
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
