UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is hiring a Genetic Counselor Assistant to support our team of Genetic Counselors in the UPMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory! You will be working daylight hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday - no weekends or holidays required! We are a genetics center with an increasing patient volume as well as a genetics lab to complement clinical services. Apply today!

• Assist in clinical investigations in genetics by performing literature searches as well as recruiting patients to enroll in ongoing studies.
\n
• Assist genetic counselors in preparing and organizing materials for genetics lectures/seminars.
\n
• Enter patient data into computer software.
\n
• Perform necessary administrative duties- answer phone calls, assist patients in scheduling appointments, administer patient intake forms and complete family histories.
\n
• Assist with report writing
\n
• Patient billing
\n
• Responsible for alerting the genetic counselor if the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient are necessary.
\n
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the genetic databases.
\n
• All other duties as assigned by the department.
\n

\n
• Bachelors degree in genetics/genetic counseling, biology, chemistry, or other science/ health-related field required.
\n
• Experience in a medical facility, currently in or completion of genetics rotations clinical program preferred. 
\n
• Experience with Microsoft Office products is required.
\n
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families. Must also possess strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
